understanding life

what is life , how to lead it, am i controlling my life or is life controlling me , these are few questions which are generally there in my mind. the more i read and understand views of some well known people and philosophies on life and religious fundamentals , i am am understanding how actually we are leading life our way. We curse the way circumstances are sometimes and complain about almost everything but some sometime i can seriously see and feel how our mind, our decisions and the way we do things actually is guiding our life and actually creating our life .
One line which has really touched my heart is " Every act is an act of self definition, we are not our past, we are and will be what we will create .... how true". how true , i feel.
We often dwell deep inti our past and also judge people according to their past, but fact is people change, they progress, we all progress and the only way we can judge our self and others is the way we are creating life right now . i am so impressed by these lines that i feel a enthusiasm and spirit to actually create my self . but as everyone else i am so stuck with my own self image and my past that i don't make so much effort in focusing on present and focusing on future.i so wish if we could all just use our wisdom and look at things in perspective and stick to defining ourselves with better acts...

YOU are the gardner of your soul. Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of expecting someone else to leave you wilted flowers.

I think this is one thing we all need to learn, no matter how difficult you may feel it is. you have to learn to be happy alone , by your self. Budhissm teaches you that you are the most important being in this world and its your responsibility to keep yourself very very happy.

Seek to understand first, then to be understood

This is one of the lessons in book of 7 habits by steven covey, why i am writing about it today is because i saw a very similar post in the blog of happiness project and the lady has approached the issue in such a beautiful way that i am totally moved.
She advice's to acknowledge someone's feeling of anger, irritation,or reluctance; instead name the feeling as other person's point of view. Its like when someone is complaining about something, dont try to prove them wrong rather understand there problem and help them resolve it.
For example, If someone is telling you that he/she feels lonely and wish if people would pay more attention to him/her. Rather them proving them how much attention people have given them earlier , just understand and give them a treat of your time.
I think she has a point and the best part is that you feel nice using this approach rather then arguing and proving a point.Lets learn to jump to solutions....i like it :)

decided to do happiness project

yes, i have finally decided to do happiness project with Gretchen Rubin. She started a blog with the name of happiness project in which she is actually doing one thing a day and making life more meaningful by having a target, working towards it and achieving it. Its not that i don't have anything to do, i have my job and i have a hobby of painting but still i have a feeling that doing happiness project will be fun thing to do...
So here i am wishing myself best of luck and start my happiness project from today.

Day 1 is to stop saving my clothes which are of no use to me anymore. i am adding this activity to my to do list for today , besides all the other work, i will try and sort out my clothes and report the victory here.
